MLB Rumors: 6 Teams Interested In Miguel Andujar After Impressive Season
Jon Heyman reports a growing list of teams checking in, with the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, and Athletics among the clubs showing interest as front offices look for one more right-handed bat who can punish lefties and cover multiple spots.
Why teams are circling Andujar right now
Andujar is coming off his best big-league season in years, hitting .318/.352/.470 across 94 games in 2025, good for a 125 wRC+, while keeping his strikeout rate down around 14%.
He’s still the same profile he’s always been, lots of contact, not many walks, and a line-drive approach that can plug into a lineup without needing everyday usage.
Miguel Andujar, off big 2025 season (.318 BA, .822 OPS), is drawing significant interest. Rangers, Padres, Cardinals, Reds, Cubs, A’s among many in play.

Clubs also love the platoon angle: he’s historically been much tougher on left-handed pitching, and that split popped again in 2025, which makes him a great fit as the short-side bat who can still hold his own when matchups force it.
The pitch, the price, and the fit for contenders
Andujar can handle the four corner spots, rotate between 3B/1B/LF/RF depending on the roster, and give you strong at-bats against southpaws without forcing you to rearrange the whole lineup.
The market comparison is also lining up for a one-year type play, especially after Seattle’s one-year, $6.25 million deal with Rob Refsnyder helped set the bar for right-handed bats who can mash lefties and complement a roster.
The Padres are showing interest in Miguel Andujar, per @JonHeyman.

He’s coming off of a big year between the Reds and A’s. In 2025, he hit .318 with a .352 OBP and .470 SLG. He also had 17 2Bs, 1 3B, and 10 HR’s and 44 RBI. He had a combined OPS+ of 125 last season. pic.twitter.com/RuWdhMHHbY
If fans are wondering about the upside case, just look back to his breakout in 2018 with the New York Yankees, when he hit .297 with 27 homers and 47 doubles and finished runner-up for AL Rookie of the Year.
Over his nine-year career, the 30-year-old holds a solid .282/.315/.441 triple-slash line, along with 53 home runs, 223 RBIs, and a 2.3 WAR across 467 games played.
