MLB News: Braves Sign Former All-Star Starter
The Atlanta Braves have been linked to some of the bigger names remaining on the market as they look to add another starter for their rotation. On Friday, however, they added some pitching depth by dipping more into the bottom tier of free agency, signing 14-year major league veteran lefty Martin Perez.

It's a minor league deal for Perez, the 34-year-old southpaw. He made 10 starts for the Chicago White Sox in 2025, and fared pretty well, posting a 3.54 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP, while holding batters to a .198 batting average.
The Braves will be his 7th team in a 14-year career.
Perez was an All-Star as recently as 2022, when he made 32 starts for the Texas Rangers, and posted a 2.89 ERA with a 169:69 strikeout to walk ratio, and a 1.26 WHIP.
In 325 career appearances, he has compiled a 4.40 ERA.
The Braves will bring him to spring training, and will find out if the veteran lefty can pick up where he left off in his 2025 performance.
In addition to the White Sox and Rangers, Perez has also pitched for the Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Twins, San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates.
