3 Phillies Free Agent Targets This Offseason
Dave Dombrowski has said the payroll won’t be limitless, but there’s still room to move smartly. The needs are familiar too. One more righty bat, steadier late innings, and a lineup core that plays in October.
Here are three Phillies free agent targets that check those boxes without turning the roster inside out.
Alex Bregman
If Philadelphia wants a proven October performer who also upgrades the day-to-day offense, Bregman is the swing. He brings elite zone control, playoff experience, and dependable defense at third. Signing him gives the front office optionality with Alec Bohm, whether that’s a DH shuffle or a trade that nets pitching depth.

Pete Alonso
Whether Kyle Schwarber returns or not, the lineup could still use a pure righty thumper. Alonso is that. He plays every day, mashes mistakes, and lengthens the order behind Bryce Harper.
If Schwarber walks, Alonso is the cleanest DH solution. If Schwarber stays, you can leverage Harper’s athleticism with occasional reps in the outfield and keep the middle third of the lineup terrifying.

Tyler Rogers
The bridge to Jhoan Duran has to be sturdier.
Rogers is a nightmare change-of-pace who kills barrels and throws strikes. His submarine look pairs perfectly with the Phillies’ power arms, giving Rob Thomson a different lane in the seventh and eighth.
October often comes down to soft contact vs. traffic. Rogers tilts those odds and lets the high-octane guys stay in their ideal pockets.
