MLB Trade: Astros Send Gold Glover to Braves
The Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves pulled off a late-night trade Wednesday night, exchanging a pair of slick-fielding veteran infielders. The Braves get themselves a two-time Gold Glover in Mauricio Dubon in return for Nick Allen.

Dubon won his second Gold Glove in three years, at the utility spot, in 2025. He played every single position on the diamond except pitcher and catcher for the Astros, mostly focused on the outfield and second base. He could potentially be the Braves' new starting shortstop for 2026.
With a Fielding run value (+17) in the 98th percentile, Dubon was 6th in the majors in this past season. His +20 Outs Above Average ranked him in the 99th percenile.
Dubon's role in Atlanta still to be determined
“His role will be determined by what else we do this winter and even in Spring Training,” Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos said. “I told him the same thing. I have no idea what the roster is going to look like come Spring Training. But knowing he has the flexibility and athleticism to play every position, it just gives us so many options this winter.”
Allen was a Gold Glove Award finalist at shortstop this past season in Atlanta, but his .535 OPS limits his value. He wasn't too far behind Dubon on the defensive side of the ball, finishing with a +17 Outs Above Average, in the 99th percentile. The 26-year-old is a four-year veteran.
