MLB Rumors: AL East Team Preparing To Make Serious Push For Kyle Schwarber

The Boston Red Sox are reportedly preparing to make a serious push for a reunion with Kyle Schwarber if he doesn’t re-sign with the Philadelphia Phillies

According to multiple reports, Boston “loves” Schwarber and views him as a perfect fit for their lineup heading into 2026.

The 33-year-old slugger is coming off a monster season in Philadelphia, where he led the National League with 56 home runs and 132 RBIs while maintaining his trademark on-base power profile.

Red Sox "love" Kyle Schwarber

Manager Alex Cora has long been an admirer of Schwarber, who made a strong impression during his brief 2021 stint with Boston.

That half-season saw him hit .291 with a .957 OPS and three postseason homers, helping the Red Sox reach the ALCS. Schwarber’s leadership and presence reportedly left a lasting impact on the clubhouse, making him one of Cora’s favorite players.

With Rafael Devers traded and Boston seeking more power, Schwarber’s left-handed bat would instantly anchor the heart of the order.

Landing him won’t be easy. The Phillies are determined to keep Schwarber, and the Red Sox already have Masataka Yoshida occupying the DH role with two years left on his $90 million contract.

Still, Boston’s front office is expected to explore all options to make room. Schwarber’s projected market value sits around $130 million over four years, a steep price, but one the Red Sox may be willing to pay for a player they know, trust, and clearly want back in Fenway.
