MLB Trade Rumors: 3 Potential Trade Landing Spots For Hunter Greene

Would the Cincinnati Reds really consider trading ace starter Hunter Greene in order to inject some more life into their offense?

That's the suggestion from Mark Sheldon of mlb.com, who wrote:

"Even after a disappointing postseason debut vs. the Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series, Greene still could be an attractive trade chip in the Reds' pockets. Moving him would free up salary to sign a bat this offseason or bring back a hitter in return, and a change of scenery could benefit him."

We wrote yesterday that while Reds boss Nick Krall isn't crazy about trading starting pitching, he wouldn't rule it out

With that, let's have a look at three teams that would be fits for Hunter Greene, per Jackson Roberts of si.com:

Baltimore Orioles

If Krall really is open to discussing Greene, the O's should be the first team all over this. With a plethora of impressive young hitting talent, some who have already shown what they can do in the majors, Baltimore seems like a perfect match. Names like Jackson Holliday and Jordan Westburg come to mind, says Roberts.

We all know how desperately the Orioles need to beef up their rotation. They did nothing of consequence last offseason to replace Corbin Burnes after losing him in free agency. And with the team never one to dole out the massive nine-figure free agent contracts, the trade route might be their best option.

New York Mets

Their rotation wound up a disaster in 2025. Their ace, Kodai Senga, even finished the year in the minors. And while owner Steve Cohen's spending hasn't yet turned the Mets into a serious contender, perhaps a trade for an ace like Greene could be the next step.

The Mets do have some solid young hitting talent, though, which ones could be counted on to step right in and provide consistent offense for the Reds is a guessing game.

Boston Red Sox

The BoSox have secured the ace of their staff, Garrett Crochet, for the next six years with a massive contract. But what if they could pair the American League strikeout leader with a flamethrower like Greene at the top of their rotation? It would be a nightmare for their AL opponents.
We know that Boston outfielder Jarren Duran's name was on the rumor mill much of the 2025 season. Perhaps the '24 All-Star would be an attractive enough piece to build a package around for the Reds to part with Greene.
