MLB Rumors: Brewers' Asking Price In Blockbuster Trade For Freddy Peralta

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta throws the ball during 2025 game.

The Freddy Peralta trade question sits at the center of Milwaukee’s offseason.

The Brewers can run it back with a 97 win core or cash in on an ace with one year of team control and restock for 2027.

Recent star deals provide a roadmap.

When the Boston Red Sox landed Garret Crochet, they sent four prospects headlined by a top 25 overall catcher. When the Chicago Cubs acquired Kyle Tucker, they paid less top 100 capital but still moved multiple MLB ready pieces.

Peralta’s value lands between those two outcomes. He is a true No. 1 coming off a peak year, yet he carries short control and a looming nine figure extension ask.

Freddy Peralta trade comps and price range

Think two lanes.

If Milwaukee targets ceiling, the ask mirrors the Crochet model. That means a top 25 to top 40 global prospect as the headliner plus two or three additional pieces who sit in an organization’s top 15 and arrive soon.

If Milwaukee targets certainty, the ask mirrors the Tucker model. That means one top 75 type plus two young big leaguers or near ready bats. Either way, the package needs at least one impact hitter or a near ready starter who can help in 2026.

Peralta’s single season of control trims the top end a bit, but his strikeout rate, durability and playoff auditions keep the floor high.

Four realistic packages from actual suitors

San Francisco Giants package
Giants send a polished infield bat who can debut early 2026, a top 10 system arm with mid rotation upside, and a young outfielder in Double A. The appeal for Milwaukee is balanced risk and a bat that can lengthen the lineup quickly. San Francisco gets a Webb–Peralta one two that stabilizes a rotation behind a new manager and pushes them into the NL West race.

Boston Red Sox package
Red Sox send one blue chip position player prospect just outside the global top 25, a top 10 system pitcher with strikeout traits, and a versatile upper level infielder. This mirrors their own Crochet deal from the buyer side. Boston pairs Peralta with Garrett Crochet for a postseason ready top two while keeping at least one of its recent first rounders.

New York Mets package
Mets send right hander Brandon Sproat, one of Ryan Clifford or A.J. Ewing, and a live armed relief prospect. The shape is headliner starter plus a corner bat or a dynamic athlete and a bullpen lottery ticket. It fits Milwaukee’s preference for pieces that arrive soon and gives New York a swing and miss anchor without draining the very top of the system.

San Diego Padres package
Padres send two upper level arms and a young catcher or center fielder from High A. San Diego lacks its pre deadline depth, so the quality needs to be concentrated. The carrot is extension potential in a pitcher friendly park, which can justify the prospect spend for a club built to win now.

The Brewers have a history of retooling without collapsing the window. Trading Peralta only makes sense if the headline talent is real and near ready. Otherwise, they hold, chase another division crown, and revisit the market in July when injuries inflate prices.
