MLB Rumors: Kyle Tucker's Projected Contract This Offseason Revealed

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker walks off the field during 2025 game.

Kyle Tucker’s season with the Chicago Cubs has been a rollercoaster, but it hasn’t cooled down the free agency buzz.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan predicts the four-time All-Star will “likely” command a $400 million contract this winter, linking the Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, and Cubs as the top suitors. While Tucker endured a slump in July and August due to a fractured hand, his late-season resurgence has reminded everyone why he’s considered one of baseball’s most complete five-tool players.

Kyle Tucker’s $400M Free Agency Looms Large

For the Phillies, Tucker could be the answer if Kyle Schwarber departs in free agency. Philadelphia has money coming off the books and a glaring need for a corner outfield bat.

The Giants, meanwhile, have payroll flexibility after adding Rafael Devers and still chasing the big-ticket star they’ve struggled to land in recent winters. Tucker, just 28 and entering his prime, represents the type of franchise cornerstone San Francisco has long been seeking. The Cubs, his current club, remain in the mix but have never handed out a contract of this size.

Tucker’s market shrinks dramatically at this price point, eliminating most mid-market teams, but it ensures a bidding war among baseball’s heavyweights.
