Free Agent Anthony Rizzo Makes Huge Decision

Anthony Rizzo, who hasn't played this season, has announced that he is officially retiring from baseball—as a member of the Chicago Cubs.

Rizzo played 14 seasons in the big leagues, and was a three-time All-Star as well as a four-time Gold Glove Award winner. But most notably, he was a key factor in ending the Cubs' 108-year World Series drought back in 2016.

The 36-year-old will retire as a Cub, and will be honored this Saturday at Wrigley Field. He'll also become an ambassador for the organization, per Jesse Rogers.

Rizzo's last 3 1/2 seasons were spent with the New York Yankees, but a series of injuries severely curtailed his contributions over the last couple of years. He suffered from chronic back problems, he endured a concussion after a collision at first base, a fractured right forearm from another collision, and even two broken knuckles after a hit-by-pitch.

Over the course of his career, Rizzo's personal accolades were many, as he finished his illustrious career with an .828 OPS, 303 home runs, and a .361 on-base percentage to go along with all the afore-mentioned awards and honors.

Congratulations are in order on a tremendous career for Anthony Rizzo. He'll feel the love from the Wrigley Faithful this Saturday.
