Texas Rangers Sign Former Mariners Gold Glover

Seattle Mariners utilityman Dylan Moore rounds the bases during 2025 game.

Dylan Moore’s seven-year run with the Seattle Mariners has come to an end, and the versatile veteran is staying in the division.

The 33-year-old utilityman signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers just days after being released by Seattle.

Moore’s Journey From Seattle to Texas

Moore was the Mariners’ longest-tenured player when he was designated for assignment on August 23 and released two days later. Bringing a lot of defensive versatility, Moore played every position except catcher during his Seattle tenure and even pitched an inning in relief as a rookie.

He also brought speed to the lineup, swiping 116 bases, including 32 just last season when he won the American League Gold Glove for utility players.

At the plate, Moore’s production was inconsistent. He carried a career slash line of .205/.310/.381 with 61 home runs and 192 RBIs in 671 games with Seattle. His 2025 season started strong, but a brutal slump saw him hit just .193 with a .263 on-base percentage, nine homers, 19 RBIs, and 12 steals in 88 games before his release.

Familiar Faces and a New Opportunity

Texas will initially assign Moore to Triple-A Round Rock, but with Marcus Semien sidelined on the injured list, he could soon get another look in the majors. The Rangers already have experience benefiting from ex-Mariners, with Rowdy Tellez and Sam Haggerty both joining the club earlier this year.

For Moore, it’s also something of a homecoming, as he was originally drafted by Texas in 2015 before a winding path eventually led him to Seattle.

The Rangers, sitting 4.5 games behind the Mariners in the AL West race, are hoping Moore can provide some versatility, and perhaps a late-season spark should he earn a call-up.
