Breaking MLB News: Marlins Place Veteran Starting Pitcher on Outright Waivers
The Miami Marlins have incredible potential at the top of their rotiation with the likes of Eury Perez, Edward Cabrera and former Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara. But after that? Not so much.
No. 4 starter Cal Quantrill has been placed on outright waivers by the Fish, who will eat the remainder of this $3.5 million contract.

Quantrill's three August starts were the final straw for the Marlins, as the 30-year-old veteran had been rocked to the tune of an 11.25 ERA, surrendering seven runs in two of those three starts. Overall, he has a 5.50 ERA on the season across 24 starts, with a 1.39 WHIP. This is the third straight season that the 30-year-old's ERA has hovered around or above the 5.00 mark.
