MLB Trade Rumors: 3 Landing Spots for Trade Candidate Marcell Ozuna

After seven consecutive seasons in the playoffs, the Atlanta Braves are just going to have to face facts: 2025 will not be their year, and that streak will come to an end. They're 11 games under .500 going into Sunday's play, and 9.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. They will be sellers at the trade deadline.

Though GM Alex Anthopoulos is usually on the other end of the buyer/seller dynamic, it's an easy call for him to ship out DH Marcell Ozuna. The 34-year-old is coming to the end of his contract and will be a free agent after the season.

With that, let's have a look at three potential landing spots that experts feel make the most sense for Ozuna.

San Diego Padres

The Friars are 29th in MLB, second from the bottom, in production from the DH spot. With only six home runs and a .570 OPS, Ozuna could come in and change all that. Although his 13 homers and .762 OPS are below his usual norms, he did average nearly 40 long balls and 100 RBIs the previous two seasons. Gavin Sheets was doing just fine as the DH in the earlier part of the season, but he's been forced into left field of late, leaving the position lacking. The Padres need all the scoring they can get to try and maintain their hold on a playoff spot.

Seattle Mariners

Jorge Polanco is having a strong season at the DH spot for the M's, with 15 homers, but he could slide back over to his natural spot at second base, where the Mariners are currently trying to stick with rookie Cole Young in the position. But this team is desperate to make the playoffs, and a proven veteran producer should be their primary goal, over a rookie.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers are dead last in the majors in OPS from their DH spot this season, and 28th in home runs. Just 2.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, beefing up their offense with an Ozuna could be just what the doctor ordered to get them back into postseason positioning.
