MLB Trade Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Braves' Marcell Ozuna

It's not often—if ever—that the Atlanta Braves are in sell mode come the trade deadline. But it just might happen this summer. At 32-39, they're 6.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, and haven't put together any sustained run to really give the front office any confidence that they'll turn things around.

If they do become sellers, their top trade candidate will undoubtedly be DH Marcell Ozuna. The 34-year-old is on an expiring contract, and while he's still putting up solid numbers with an .811 OPS and a .389 on-base percentage, his power is down a bit from the 40-HR pace he's been in and around the past couple of years.

But for a team looking for a big offensive boost at the DH spot, Ozuna will be very much in demand. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand suggests three potential landing spots for the slugger, if he's dealt.

Detroit Tigers

The surprising best team in baseball so far this season, the Tigers have a whopping 9.5 game lead atop the AL Central Division, and are seemingly a cinch to make the playoffs for the second straight year. But more will be expected in the postseason this time around. They'll need some help at DH, where they haven't gotten much production, sitting 24th in MLB in average, at .215, and 20th in OPS, at .704.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers are hovering around the .500 mark, and hanging around in the Wild Card chase, currently 1.5 games back going into Wednesday's play. But with Joc Pederson out for nearly two months now (and hitting poorly before he went down), the Rangers are dead last in the majors in OPS out of their DH spot (.550), and 25th in homers with just six. Ozuna would be a significant upgrade.

Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians are lagging far behind Detroit in the Central, but they are right in the thick of the Wild Card chase, just a half-game back going into Wednesday's play. Ozuna would be a huge boost at the DH spot.
