MLB Rumors: 3 Potential Trade Destinations For Red Sox' Jarren Duran

The Boston Red Sox didn’t expect their 2025 season to spiral so fast—but here they are, treading water in the AL East and staring down the possibility of selling at the deadline.

One name that's jumped to the forefront of trade chatter? Jarren Duran. A 2024 All-Star and one of Boston’s most dynamic players, Duran is drawing serious interest from contenders across the league. His speed, power, and team-friendly contract make him one of the most valuable outfielders potentially available—and with top prospect Roman Anthony waiting in the wings, Boston might just be ready to deal.

Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer has linked several teams to Duran in trade talks.

Padres, Phillies, Mariners Lead the Chase for Duran

The San Diego Padres have been linked to Duran since early June. They’ve had a black hole in left field all year, and Duran’s athleticism would provide a massive upgrade as they chase the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. San Diego could part with top shortstop prospect Leo De Vries and power reliever Jeremiah Estrada—two big chips, but a worthy price for a player with Duran’s upside.

Meanwhile, Dave Dombrowski’s Philadelphia Phillies are a natural fit. Duran could solve their ongoing center field woes, where they've gotten minimal production. A potential deal could center around Andrew Painter, one of baseball’s premier pitching prospects. It’d be a bold move for Philadelphia, but one that fits their win-now timeline.

Don’t sleep on the Seattle Mariners, either. The offense has lagged behind their elite pitching, and Duran would slot perfectly alongside Julio Rodríguez and newcomer Randy Arozarena. Seattle has the depth to pull off a blockbuster—offering pieces like Bryce Miller, Harry Ford, and Michael Arroyo in return.

Could Boston Actually Pull the Trigger?

With Duran’s combination of All-Star production, electric tools, and contract control through 2028, it’ll take a haul to pry him loose. But Boston’s front office has a rare opportunity to capitalize on his peak value while clearing the way for Roman Anthony.
