MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees Agressively Pursuing Two Key Upgrades
The New York Yankees are gearing up for another postseason push—and general manager Brian Cashman isn’t waiting around.
According to multiple reports, including Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Yankees are “aggressively searching” for two key upgrades ahead of the July 31 trade deadline: a right-handed third baseman and another starting pitcher.
With Aaron Judge playing at an MVP level and the Yankees holding one of the top records in the American League, the urgency to solidify the roster is high. Injuries to key arms like Gerrit Cole, Marcus Stroman, and Luis Gil have left the rotation thin, while the infield has also taken a hit with Oswaldo Cabrera out for the season.
Third Base Market Heats Up
The Yankees have struggled to find consistency at third. Oswald Peraza (.172 AVG) hasn’t provided the offense they need, and DJ LeMahieu’s role remains uncertain, especially once Jazz Chisholm Jr. returns from the injured list. Among the names floated as potential fits are Amed Rosario of the Washington Nationals—who’s hitting .303—and former Yankees prospect Miguel Andujar, now with the Athletics. While stars like Nolan Arenado remain unlikely due to no-trade clauses, affordable right-handed options remain on the radar.

Rotation Depth Also a Priority
On the pitching side, New York is operating without its ace and could use more support behind Max Fried, Carlos Rodón, and Clarke Schmidt. Trade options reportedly being considered include Erick Fedde, Tyler Anderson, Sandy Alcantara, and Zack Littell. With Will Warren and Ryan Yarbrough currently filling rotation spots, the Yankees are likely to make a move soon to ensure postseason stability.

With the trade deadline approaching in the future, expect Brian Cashman to stay aggressive. The Yankees may already be contenders, but their front office clearly isn't settling for “good enough.”
