LA Angels Sign Former LA Dodgers All-Star & 2-Time World Champ

Chris Taylor celebrates World Series with Dodgers, now moves to the Angels

Well, it doesn't exactly make up for losing Shohei Ohtani to their crosstown rivals, but the LA Angels have scooped up a longtime Dodgers veteran, with two World Series rings and an All-Star appearance. Chris Taylor became a free agent after
he was shockingly released by the Dodgers earlier this month, but he won't have to go far to reach his new workplace, signing with the Angels.

The super utilityman can play second base, third base, shortstop and all three outfield positions. He'll immediately suit up in his new digs by playing center field in the Angels' game against the New York Yankees Monday night.

Taylor was released by the Dodgers, now lands with the Angels

Taylor was surprisingly let go by his longtime team on May 18 when the Dodgers activated Tommy Edman from the IL. Taylor, 34, was batting .200 with no homers and two RBIs in 35 plate appearances. His production has plummeted since his 2021 All-Star season in which he hit 20 homers with 73 RBIs and a .782 OPS.

Despite his failing stats, many around the organization feel that losing a veteran and longtime team leader like Taylor will hurt the defending World Series champs. He was the second-longest tenured Dodger.

Now, he'll simply head down the I-5 about 45 minutes to his new workplace.

Over his career, Taylor has a .250/.328/.421 slash line with 108 home runs and 89 steals in 1,093 games.
