Red Sox Rumors: Most Likely Trade Candidate Named For Boston
Grissom, acquired in the controversial Chris Sale deal with Atlanta, has struggled to find a clear role in Boston’s crowded infield picture.
Vaughn Grissom Named Red Sox’s Top Trade Candidate
Grissom has logged time at second base, shortstop, and third base in Triple-A Worcester, but with established big-league starters at all three spots, his path to regular playing time in Boston is murky.
"There’s not going to be room for him to play in Boston’s infield again any time soon," Miller wrote, noting that Grissom’s value might be better realized as a trade chip to bolster the team’s rotation, bullpen, or first base depth.

While Grissom isn’t tearing up the minors—batting .260 with a .718 OPS through 39 games—his versatility and prior MLB experience make him a intriguing asset for clubs looking to add a controllable infielder. With his free agency clock already ticking and Boston eager to compete in Alex Bregman’s lone season under contract, Grissom looks increasingly like the odd man out—and a logical candidate to be on the move this July.
There’s a reason Craig Breslow traded a Boston legend like Chris Sale for Vaughn Grissom.

He believes in him.
The upside is real. Grissom debuted at 21 y/o with Atlanta while skipping AAA.
