TRADE: Orioles Acquire Luis Castillo From Mariners

The Baltimore Orioles have been in dire need of a boost to their pitching staff, which sits with the second-worst ERA in all of baseball (5.50), the third-worst WHIP (1.53), and the second-worst batting average against (.287). So you'd think that going out and acquiring Luis Castillo from the Seattle Mariners would solve their problems?

Not quite. The O's traded for Luis F.  Castillo from Seattle — he's a bit different from the Mariners' three-time All-Star and ace Luis M.  Castillo.

And as the trade was posted and announced in the late-night hours on the East Coast, some Orioles fans were half-asleep and shocked at the news, until they realized they were not getting the fireballing 9-year veteran ace starter, but rather a 30-year-old rookie who has pitched all of 10.2 innings in the majors, and has a 7.71 ERA this season in 7 IP with the Mariners, with a 2.71 WHIP and a 5:7 strikeout to walk ratio.

Yikes.

Orioles fans have flooded social media, reacting as you'd think they would to this troll move:

Orioles GM Mike Elias has some explaining to do.
