“Growing Belief” That Jazz Chisholm To Be Traded—Top 3 Likely Landing spots
It wasn't too long ago that Jazz Chisholm was thought to be the future of the Miami Marlins franchise. But several seasons of injury woes and underperformance now have him on the trade block. In fact, there is a "growing belief" that he will indeed be dealt, according to Craig Mish of the Miami Herald.
He's now two years away from his lone All-Star appearance, and is having a decent season, batting .255 with 10 home runs, 40 RBI, 17 stolen bases, a .733 OPS. Not of the exciting top-tier potential that he was thought to hold, but his defense is strong in center and he can flash both speed and power on offense.
Three teams that we should be keeping an eye on as potential landing spots for Chisholm:
Philadelphia Phillies
"The Phillies are trying to fix center field and they’ve made it the top priority," said former MLB GM Jim Bowden on MLB Network Radio on Monday, who then goes on to list Chisholm as one of their top targets. And one thing we know about Phillies GM Dave Dombrowski, if he sets his sights on something, he makes it happen.
Seattle Mariners
A team that has been looking for a boost in their lineup all season long, and also with some holes to fill in the outfield, the Mariners are a leading candidate to make a big run at the 26-year-old.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals are just 1.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, and they will be looking to bolster the weakest area in their everyday lineup, the outfield. KC's regular group of MJ Melendez, Kyle Isbel and Hunter Renfroe have been among the least productive OFs in the majors this season.
