Angels “Bombarded With Interest” for Carlos Estevez — Top 3 Trade Destinations

The Los Angeles Angels are expected to be one of the sellers on the trade market this month (though that doesn't always mean that they will, as they have squandered many opportunities in recent years to cash in on players).

According to insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Angels are "getting bombarded with interest" for closer Carlos Estevez.

He was the AL Reliever of the Month in June, surrendering just two hits and no walks against 10 strikeouts in 10 shutout innings. He retired 26 consecutive batters during one stretch, allowed a .065 batting average and is 16 for 19 in save opportunities.

Estevez signed a 2-year, $13.5M deal before the 2023 season, and will have only about $2.2 million remaining on his contract come the trade deadline. He’ll be a free agent after the season.

Here are three of the top potential landing spots for Estevez:

New York Mets

No, they have not given up the ship yet this season after their recent run back to prominence. With closer Edwin Diaz just coming off a 10-game suspension for sticky stuff, and struggling to recapture his old form this season, Estevez would provide the Mets with a huge boost at the back end of the bullpen as they continue to push for a playoff spot.

New York Yankees

The Mets' crosstown rivals, the Yankees, are heading in the opposite direction, in a downward spiral. The bullpen is one of the areas that's sprung some heavy leaks, and Estevez could help plug some holes.

Philadelphia Phillies

Anytime there's a notable bullpen arm to be had, the Phillies can't be far behind. They will, as always, look to upgrade their 'pen as they charge hard toward a division title and look to make a long playoff run. Adding Alvarez to the already strong Jose Alvarado/Jeff Hoffman combo would make the Phils a tough team to beat come the postseason.
