VIDEO: Top 10 Angel Hernandez Worst Calls to mark his Retirement

The baseball world is rejoicing. The long-recognized worst umpire in the game is retiring—effective immediately. Angel Hernandez has been the bane of baseball fans and players' existence since 1991, and he says he's retiring to spend more time with his family. Whether the constant social media shaming and ridiculing had anything to do with it, we might never know.

And on that note, there’s no better time to have a look at the all-time worst calls and moments in this controversial umpire's career, via the following Twitter (X) thread. Click through and scroll down to see some of the most insane and indescribable calls of all-time:

We see everything from the time Kyle Schwarber lost his mind after a brutal strike three call; Bryce Harper going ballistic and charging up the third baseline to confront Hernandez after a checked-swing call; White Sox homer announcer Ken Harrelson billowing out "No! No! No! Another blown call by Hernandez!"; Ian Kinsler being thrown out for merely looking at the ump; A called 3rd strike in the World Baseball Classic that was miles outside; and that time he had three calls overturned by replay in the 2018 ALDS in the first four innings.

Despite all of these memorable infamous moments and many more, Hernandez, 62, recalls his 33 years in the majors fondly:

“There is nothing better than working at a profession that you enjoy. I treasured the camaraderie of my colleagues and the friendships I have made along the way, including our locker room attendants in all the various cities."

Perhaps it can all best be summed up with the following two tweets:
