Rangers Claim Pitcher With Impressive Strikeout Numbers Off Waivers From Angels
The Texas Rangers have bolstered their bullpen by claiming left-handed pitcher Kolton Ingram off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels.
Amidst a challenging start to the season and injuries to key pitchers like Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom, as well as third baseman Josh Jung, the Rangers see Ingram as a valuable addition.
Despite his limited major league exposure in 2023, where he displayed potential with a strong strikeout ability, Ingram brings a record of minor league success, including a career 3.27 ERA and 248 strikeouts across 150 appearances and 203.2 innings (30% K rate).

If I'm wondering, I'd say this is a Brock Burke replacement in org. My guess is Burke has made last pitch for…
Ingram's specific skill set, particularly his effective fastball/slider combination against left-handed hitters, slashing just .151/.245/.186 against him in 2023 and hit just .141/.243/.219 the year before, addresses a critical gap in the Rangers’ bullpen.
With left-handed relievers like Brock Burke sidelined and rookie Jacob Latz as the primary left-handed option, Ingram’s presence provides the Rangers with much-needed depth and flexibility.
This move also allows the Rangers to manage their roster more dynamically, shuttling Ingram between Triple-A Round Rock and Arlington as game situations demand.

As the Rangers aim to defend their World Series title and improve upon their early season performance, Ingram’s acquisition offers a blend of immediate relief and strategic depth.
