MLB Rumors: New Teams "Reaching Out" On 2 Scott Boras Clients

During this spring training season, the free agency pursuits of left-handed pitchers Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery, both represented by agent Scott Boras, have taken an intriguing turn.

Initially linked to teams such as the San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox, both remain unsigned. However, recent revelations from Boras indicate a significant development: new teams have entered the fray.

Despite their initial connections, a handful of additional clubs have reached out to express interest in securing the services of Snell and Montgomery, suggesting a shift in the market dynamics surrounding the talented duo.

The emergence of these new suitors underscores the fluidity of the offseason landscape and the evolving strategies employed by players and their representatives.

Snell, the reigning Cy-Young award winner, posted a fantastic 2.25 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, with 234 strikeouts and a league-low 99 walks across 180 innings and 32 starts with the San Diego Padres.

While Snell and Montgomery have been vocal about their desired contract terms – Snell open to short-term, high-AAV deals with opt-outs, and Montgomery seeking a long-term arrangement – the influx of interest from previously inactive teams presents fresh opportunities and challenges.

Over his first six MLB seasons, spent with the Yankees, the 31-year-old posted a 3.94 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, with 478 strikeouts across 502.2 innings and 98 appearances.

Since leaving the Yankees, Montgomery's game has soared to new heights, recording a 3.20 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, with 166 strikeouts across 188.2 innings and 32 starts.

As teams reassess their pitching needs and navigate the complexities of free agency, the possibility of new offers materializing remains on the horizon.
