Insider Names 4 Teams Showing Interest In Free Agent Blake Snell

Blake Snell, the reigning National League Cy Young winner, has officially entered free agency, drawing significant interest from several major league teams, including the Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, and Boston Red Sox.

This intense competition for Snell's services comes after his impressive season, where he led the MLB with a 2.25 ERA over 180 innings and earned his second Cy Young Award.

The Los Angeles Angels, having recently lost Shohei Ohtani to the Dodgers, are actively pursuing Snell, marking a potential shift in their strategy.

Historically, the Angels have been cautious about long-term deals for pitchers, with their last major commitment being a three-year deal to Tyler Anderson the previous offseason.

However, in the wake of Ohtani's departure, they've made Snell their top priority, indicating a possible change in approach under owner Arte Moreno.

The San Francisco Giants, another team showing strong interest in Snell, have also typically avoided long-term deals for starting pitchers under the tenure of their president of baseball operations, Farhan Zaidi.

Despite a 107-win season in 2021, the Giants have not consistently met expectations, which could be influencing their current pursuit of Snell.

They have the financial capacity to make a substantial offer, with a projected payroll significantly below the luxury-tax threshold, potentially allowing them to make a competitive bid.

On the East Coast, the Phillies and Red Sox are also in the mix.

The Red Sox, in particular, are seeking to bolster their starting rotation after their pitchers posted a below-average ERA in the previous season.
