Oakland Athletics Claim Pitcher Off Waivers

The Oakland Athletics have made an addition to their depth, as they have claimed Spenser Watkins off of waivers from the Houston Astros.

The Astros designated Watkins for assignment over the weekend, but now he has found a new home with the Athletics. The Astros acquired Watkins from the Baltimore Orioles late last month as well. As a result, Watkins has had a busy few weeks to say the least.

Watkins has spent all of this season in the minors, and that is set to continue with the A's organization, as he has been assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas. However, if he impresses, he is likely to receive a call-up before the season is over.

Watkins has 39 MLB appearances on his resume, where he has a 7-13 record to go along with a 5.85 ERA. We will need to wait and see if he will get the chance to improve upon these career stats with the A's before the season is over from here.
