Oakland Athletics Claim Pitcher Off Waivers From Red Sox

The Oakland Athletics have bolstered their bullpen by acquiring right-handed reliever Tayler Scott off waivers from the Boston Red Sox.

This marks Scott's third team this season, having initially signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers before being traded to the Red Sox.

The 31-year-old has had a challenging time in his MLB career, posting a high 10.18 ERA over 38 innings. However, he has shown promise in Triple-A this year, impressing with a 1.59 ERA in 22.2 innings.

The Athletics, currently struggling with the worst bullpen ERA in the majors at 5.72, see Scott as a cost-effective depth option to address their pitching needs.

Despite his struggles at the highest level, Oakland is hopeful that Scott's Triple-A success will translate into improved performance in the big leagues. With the bullpen in need of reinforcements, the Athletics aim to provide Scott with an opportunity to contribute and help stabilize their pitching staff.

For his minor-league career, the 31-year-old holds a 3.82 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, with 539 strikeouts across 673 innings and 306 appearances.
