Chicago Cubs Rumors: Marcus Stroman Linked to New Team

Chicago Cubs star pitcher Marcus Stroman is one of the most notable trade candidates heading into the deadline, and he has been linked to multiple teams because of it. Yet, it appears that a new club has entered the mix, as the Tampa Bay Rays are "doing homework" on Stroman, per the Onto Waveland podcast.

The Rays currently sport a strong 60-40 record, but they have struggled as of late, winning just three out of their last 10 games. Their once-comfy division lead has since been overtaken by the Baltimore Orioles, and they are expected to be quite active at the deadline because of it. When noting that they could use another high-impact starter, it is understandable that they are considering Stroman.

It has been another excellent season for Stroman, and the truth is in his stats. In 21 appearances with the Cubs, the righty has a 10-7 record, a 3.09 ERA, and 105 strikeouts. This led to the 32-year-old being named to his second-career All-Star Game as well.

This is a big year for the Rays, as they have shown that they have the potential to go on a real run this fall. Yet, with their pitching needing a boost, now is the time to bring in a high-quality starter like Stroman.
