MLB Rumors: Pittsburgh Pirates Hearing Offers for All-Star Closer

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Pittsburgh Pirates have told teams that they are open to hearing offers for David Bednar.

Heyman also noted, however, that it will be hard for the Pirates to move him because he is not a free agent until the completion of the 2027 season. With that, he noted that he is a Pittsburgh native, and that is another "plus" for the Pirates.
The Pirates will demand a lot in any move centering around Bednar because of this. With that, the 28-year-old has had a dominant season, as his 1.15 ERA and 19 saves effectively display. He also was rightfully named to his second career All-Star Game because of his strong play.

It will be interesting to see if the Pirates end up moving Bednar from here. It will take a lot for a move to go down, but perhaps there is a team out there willing to give them what they want. Time will tell what happens on that front.
