BREAKING: Yankees Shocked As Reliever Suspended For Rest Of The Season

The New York Yankees are stunned to learn today from Major League Baseball that reliever Jimmy Cordero has been suspended for the rest of the season.

After an investigation, the league found that Cordero violated MLB's domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy. Due to confidentiality, no other details have been released at the moment.

“The Yankees are fully supportive of Major League Baseball’s investigative process and the disciplinary action applied to Jimmy Cordero,” the team stated in a press release. “There is no justification for domestic violence, and we stand with the objectives, standards and enforcement of MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.”

The 31-year-old Yankees righty had tossed 32.2 innings this season, posting a 3.86 ERA and 1.07 WHIP as part of one of the strongest bullpens in the league.

Fellow Yankees pitcher Domingo German served an 81-game suspension over the 2020/2021 seasons for a domestic violence incident.
