MLB Rumors: Milwaukee Brewers Have Set Plan For Trade Deadline

Ever since he came out and blasted the team for their handling of his arbitration case, Milwaukee Brewers ace Corbin Burnes has been talked about as a prime trade candidate this season.

Two things, however, stand in the way of that:

1) The Brewers are right in the mix to win the weak NL Central Division, as less than five games separate the five teams.

2) The team does NOT want a repeat of last year's Josh Hader trade debacle at the deadline. That shocking and unexpected blockbuster deal, sending away the team's lockdown closer, sent not only fans, but the rest of the Brewers players into a tizzy, and the team spiralled out of contention instantly.

Burnes is a former Cy Young Award winner (2021) and a two-time All-Star, and they simply can't afford to lose him and expect to stay in the race.

That's why MLB Insider Jon Heyman is reporting that a "well-placed source" tells him that the Brewers will definitely not be selling this trade season.

Now, if they completely bottom out in the division (unlikely, but possible if the St. Louis Cardinals really put it all together), then all bets are off.
