Dodgers Claim Former 1st-Round Pick Pitcher Off Waivers From Rays

The Los Angeles Dodgers have recently claimed right-handed pitcher Zack Burdi off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Burdi was designated for assignment by the Rays after a challenging outing, during which he surrendered six runs, five of them earned, in just one inning against the Toronto Blue Jays earlier in the week.

Despite his struggles in the majors thus far, the Dodgers have shown faith in the 28-year-old, who was originally a first-round pick in the 2016 draft.

The Dodgers believe in Burdi's potential and are providing him with another opportunity to showcase his abilities.

Over his three-year career, Burdi holds a 8.44 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, with 23 strikeouts across 21.1 innings and 18 appearances.

With their expertise and guidance, the Dodgers hope to help Burdi improve his performance and contribute positively to the team. It remains to be seen how Burdi will fare in his new environment, but the Dodgers' acquisition of him demonstrates their confidence in his potential. Photo Credit: Dave Nelson-USA TODAY Sports
