BREAKING: New York Mets Sign Former Yankees All-Star Catcher

Headed back to New York!

The New York Mets are signing former New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez.

Sanchez was most recently with the San Francisco Giants, however, he opted out of his contract last week and has now signed with the Mets.

The veteran catcher did not impress during his time with the Giants, posting a dreadful .164 batting average with no home runs.

Last season, the 30-year-old played for the Minnesota Twins, slashing a poor .205/.282/.377 triple-slash line, with 16 home runs, 61 RBIs, and 42 runs scored across 128 games.

The two-time All-Star is now headed back to New York, where he mashed the ball in his first two MLB seasons, sporting a strong .923 OPS, 53 home runs and 132 RBIs across 175 games from 2016-17.

The Mets will be hoping Sanchez can rekindle some of that previous success.
