Washington Nationals Rumors: 3 Early-Season Trade Candidates

Welcome to Baseball Rumors' Early-Season Trade Candidates series. During it, we will be looking at three players who are already emerging as trade candidates during the beginning portion of the campaign.

In this latest installment of the series, we will be looking at the Washington Nationals.

Kyle Finnegan: The Nationals were listening to offers for Kyle Finnegan during the offseason, but a move did not occur. However, that is likely to change during the regular season, as he has a good amount of trade value and teams are always looking to beef up their bullpens. In 66 games last season, he had a 6-4 record and a 3.51 ERA.

Jeimer Candelario: Jeimer Candelario is a rental candidate from the Nationals who will likely be dealt before the deadline. The veteran infielder is looking to have a bounce-back season after a rough 2022 campaign. If he gets back t his 2021 form when he had 42 doubles, 16 home runs, and a .271 batting average, there would surely be a market for him.

Carl Edwards Jr: Carl Edwards Jr. is another veteran who could be on the move. He is a pending UFA and has gotten his career back on track since becoming a National. In 57 games last year in DC, he sported a 6-3 record to go along with a 2.76 ERA. Look for plenty of teams to target at the deadline if he keeps up his solid pitching.
