Oakland Athletics Sign Former Rangers Pitcher

The Oakland Athletics have signed right-handed pitcher Spencer Patton to a minor league contract.

Patton has made 101 relief appearances at the major league level, with a career ERA of 5.11.

Last season, he played in seven games for the Texas Rangers and spent most of the year at Triple-A Round Rock. However, the 35-year-old's recent performance has shown promise, as he boasts a 3.83 ERA in 49 relief appearances for the Rangers over the past two seasons.

If he performs well during his time in Triple-A, he may have an opportunity to pitch for the A's and provide additional bullpen options for the team as they seek to bolster their pitching staff.

Over his five-year career, he's spent four seasons with the Rangers and one with the Chicago Cubs, compiling a 5.11 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 111 strikeouts across 104 innings of work. Photo Credit: Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
