New York Mets Rumors: 3 Early-Season Trade Candidates

Welcome to Baseball Rumors' Early-Season Trade Candidates series. During it, we will be looking at three players who are already emerging as trade candidates during the beginning portion of the campaign.

In this latest episode of the series, we will discuss the New York Mets.

Brett Baty: If the Mets want to make a major blockbuster before the deadline passes this season, Brett Baty will likely need to be included in the deal. The 23-year-old third baseman has a plethora of potential, but the Mets also have World Series expectations, so they could be willing to move him if it results in them landing a major star.

Carlos Carrasco: The New York Mets' starting rotation is immensely strong, and Carlos Carrasco has emerged as a trade candidate because of it. With the Mets having a massive surplus of starters, they could move Carrasco elsewhere if it helps them improve their roster elsewhere.

David Peterson: Another starter who stands out as a trade candidate is David Peterson. The 27-year-old was in the rumor mill all offseason, but a move did not occur. However, with teams around the league looking to improve their rotation, they could take a chance on the 6-foot-6 lefty. In 28 appearances last year, he sported a 7-5 record and a 3.83 ERA.
