Braves Place Right-Handed Pitcher On 15-Day IL; Recall LHP

The Atlanta Braves have been dealing with some pitching injuries lately, with right-handed pitcher Collin McHugh being the latest setback, as he now been placed on the 15-day injured list due to shoulder inflammation.

As a result, the Braves have called up left-handed pitcher Jared Shuster from Triple-A Gwinnett to replace McHugh.

Shuster made his MLB debut against the Washington Nationals last Sunday, but struggled, giving up four earned runs on six hits and five walks in just 4.2 innings with only one strikeout. Despite his shaky debut, he's expected to start for the Braves against the San Diego Padres on Friday.

It's uncertain how long McHugh will be out, as there's no information on the extent of his injury or the duration of his absence from the team. Prior to his injury, McHugh had made three relief appearances for the Braves, pitching for 3.2 innings and allowing one earned run on four hits. Photo Credit: Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports
