Washington Nationals Sign Veteran Catcher

The Washington Nationals recently signed catcher Francisco Arcia to a minor league contract.

The move comes as the team is experiencing some difficulties with their catching situation this spring, particularly with the backup position behind starter Keibert Ruiz.
As an experienced player, Arcia is expected to provide depth and support to the team. Despite being 33 years old, he has not played in the major leagues since the 2018 season.

In 2021, Arcia was on a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels, and he did not play professional ball at all last year.

Over his minor-league career, the 33-year-old has posted a .242/.314/.328 triple-slash line, with 26 home runs, 244 RBIs, 19 stolen bases and 227 runs scored across 668 games played. Photo Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
