New York Mets Make Roster Moves
The New York Mets have made a notable removal from their 40-man roster, as Darin Ruf has been designated for assignment.
Ruf was acquired by the Mets last season with the expectation that he would be a solid option for them at DH. However, the eight-year veteran struggled noticeably following the move, as he failed to hit a home run and sported a disastrous .152 batting average in 28 games. As a result, he needed to impress at spring training to keep his job, but, unfortunately, the Mets have decided to part ways with him.
The Mets now have until the end of the week to either trade or place Ruf on waivers. There could be some interest in him, as he has the potential to be a good depth player while playing at his best.
In response to this move, Tim LoCastro has made the Mets' MLB roster. In 38 games last season with the New York Yankees, he had two home runs, four RBIs, and a .186 batting average.
