Milwaukee Brewers Re-Sign Slugger Two Days After Opting Out

Back after two days.

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed 32-year-old first baseman Luke Voit to a one-year contract, with the option for an additional year.

Voit recently opted out of his minor league deal, but quickly found a new opportunity with the Brewers. This move indicates that both parties were interested in a reunion, which was reported.

Voit will likely serve as a backup first baseman and part-time designated hitter against left-handed pitching, potentially taking over for former top prospect Keston Hiura.

With his proven power production, this signing is a strong addition to the Brewers' roster, providing Voit with the opportunity to regain the elite form that he showed during the 2020 season.

Over his six-year career, Voit has recorded a .254/.342/.476 triple-slash line, with 95 home runs, 272 RBIs and 242 runs scored over 486 games played. Photo Credit: Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports
