Miami Marlins Rumors: First Baseman Available for Trade
The Miami Marlins are reportedly open to making changes to their current roster. As a result of this, there are rumblings that they are hearing offers for Garrett Cooper.
Cooper will a pending unrestricted free agent, and it appears that he is not a long-term part of their plans when noting that he is 32 years old. As a result of this, it makes sense that they are open to the idea of moving him - whether that is before Opening Day or at some point during the regular season.
Cooper is coming off of his first All-Star season, so it would make sense for Miami to move him while he has a bit more trade value. In 119 games with the Marlins on the year, he had nine home runs, 50 RBIs, and a .261 batting average.
Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see if Cooper ends up being dealt from here. Yet, when noting his pending UFA status it seems more likely than not that he will be moved.
