Chicago Cubs Rumors: 2 Trade Candidates Heading to Opening Day

The Chicago Cubs made some major changes to their roster this offseason, but more moves could be on the way before the start of the season. Let's look at two specific trade candidates because of this.

Ian Happ: Ian Happ generated plenty of buzz before last season's trade deadline, but the Cubs ultimately decided to keep him around. However, now that he is a pending UFA, we could see the Cubs look to take advantage of his heightened trade value if he does not want to sign an extension. Keep in mind, he just had his first All-Star season, so the Cubs could land a nice variety of prospects and young players for him.

Yan Gomes: Yan Gomes is emerging as a trade candidate after the Cubs signed Tucker Barnhart this offseason. Teams looking for a bit more catching depth could consider bringing in the 11-year veteran, but he is also coming off of a season that saw him have a low .235 batting average in 86 games played.
