Boston Red Sox Acquire Prospect From Kansas City Royals

Earlier this offseason, the Boston Red Sox acquired Adalberto Mondesi and a player to be named later from the Kansas City Royals for Josh Taylor. Now, that player has been named, as Boston has acquired prospect Angel Pierre from the Royals.

Pierre is certainly a project for the Red Sox, as he is only 19 years old. However, it is not a bad thing in the slightest that they acquired, as Boston is in a position where they should be looking to improve their prospect pool.

Pierre appeared in 33 games last season in the Dominican Summer League with the DSL Royals Stewart, where he had two home runs, 19 RBIs, and a .300 batting average. Overall, the third baseman/shortstop did fairly well, and now he will continue to work on his development in the Red Sox system from here.

Alas, we will need to wait and see if Pierre can become a major league player later down the road.
