Arizona Diamondbacks Release Veteran Pitcher

The Arizona Diamondbacks have made a notable subtraction to their roster, as they have released Jeurys Familia.

The Diamondbacks informed Familia that he did not make their Opening Day roster, so it makes sense that they are letting him walk. As a result of this, Familia will now be aiming to find a new home before the start of the regular season. Given the fact that he has plenty of experience and teams are always looking for bullpen help, there is a good chance that another club will take a flyer on him.

Familia is coming off of a rough season that saw him split time with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox, however. In 48 appearances, he had a 2-3 record to go along with a 6.09 ERA.

Over the course of Familia's 11-year MLB career, he has a 34-28 record, 3.51 ERA, and 125 saves split between the New York Mets, Oakland A's, Phillies, and Red Sox in 547 games. We will now need to wait and see if he gets the chance to improve upon these career stats elsewhere in 2023.
