Seattle Mariners Sign Right-Handed Pitcher

Joining the Seattle Mariners.

The Mariners have signed pitcher A.J. Puckett to a minor-league contract.

Puckett gives the Mariners some extra upper-level pitching depth.

Last season, at Double-A Mississippi, Puckett recorded an ugly 7.36 ERA, 1.82 WHIP, with 74 strikeouts over 58.2 innings of work. He made five starts, 28 relief appearances and held a 2-5 record.

He is still looking to make his major-league debut. For his minor-league career, however, the twenty-seven-year-old holds a serviceable 4.26 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, with 310 strikeouts across 333.2 innings.

Puckett is a former second-round pick by the Kansas City Royals in the 2016 MLB Draft.
