Seattle Mariners Claim Left-Handed Reliever Off Waivers

Heading to Seattle.

The Seattle Mariners have claimed pitcher Tayler Saucedo off of waivers from the New York Mets.

Saucedo had been designated for assignment last week by the Mets in order to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for their signing of Tommy Pham.

Last season, with Triple-A Buffalo where he spent the bulk of the season, the twenty-nine-year-old recorded a strong 2.25 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts over 20 innings of work.

For his major-league career, Saucedo holds a 5.40 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts across 28.1 innings. He's made 33 relief appearances, all with the Toronto Blue Jays.

He's a former 21st-round pick by the Blue Jays in the 2015 MLB Draft.

Saucedo will provide some bullpen depth for the Mariners.
