San Diego Padres Sign Former Top Prospect Shortstop

Headed to San Diego.

The San Diego Padres have signed shortstop Wander Javier to a minor-league contract.

Once considered one of the top prospects in the game at the shortstop position, Javier has struggled with injuries and just has not been able to fully live up to the hype.

Last season, split between A+ and Triple-A, Javier slashed .204/.271/.628, with 13 home runs, 62 RBIs, five stolen bases and 49 runs scored over 116 games played.

For his minor-league career, the twenty-four-year-old holds a .218/.292/.678 triple-slash line, with 42 home runs, 180 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and 181 runs scored across 342 games.

He'll add some minor-league depth for the Padres.
