Injury Update On Detroit Tigers Tarik Skubal

He underwent flexor tendon surgery last August.

Detroit Tigers starter Tarik Skubal said on Thursday that he has advanced to flat-ground throwing.

Skubal is reportedly doing around 40 throws on flat ground a week, and the hope is that he will get clearance to return to mound work sometime this spring.

Skubal is already guaranteed to start the season on the injured list, but he should be an option for the Tigers around the summer, barring any setbacks.

The twenty-six-year-old took a big step forward this past season, posting a solid 3.52 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 117 strikeouts over 117.2 innings of work.

From the start of the season to June 12, Skubal was electric, registering a 2.71 ERA, with 75 strikeouts over 69.2 innings. After that, however, he started to decline which is likely part of the arm injuries he was dealing with.
