Gary Sanchez Gets Yankees Return Rumors Buzzing

Could the former two-time All-Star Gary Sanchez be eyeing a return to the New York Yankees? Yankees Twitter was certainly all abuzz at seeing Sanchez wearing Yankees gear in workout videos he posted on social media.

Sanchez has fallen a long way from his All-Star seasons in the Bronx; he spent last season with the Minnesota Twins where he hit .205 with a .659 OPS and 16 HR.

In his last two seasons, he has a combined .204 average, a .294 on-base and a weak .399 slugging, for an OPS+ of 94 (6% below average). His strikeout rate is still immense (nothing new about that) at 28.2%, and behind the plate, he has a minus-9 Defensive Runs Saved.

But hey, he's a free agent, and some team that needs a catcher may be interested in giving him a shot.

The question: could it possibly be the Yankees? They currently have Jose Trevino and Kyle Higashioka pencilled in as the backstops.
