Detroit Tigers Sign Free Agent Left-Handed Pitcher

The Detroit Tigers add some pitching depth.

The Tigers have signed pitcher Jace Fry to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Fry showed some potential in the Chicago White Sox' bullpen a few years back, but he's done nothing special over the last two years.

The twenty-nine-year-old spent the second half of the 2022 season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley after signing with the Philadelphia Phillies in June. There, he posted a poor 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, with 20 strikeouts over 16 innings.

Over his five-year career, Fry has pitched with several different organizations, however, he's only appeared in the majors with the White Sox.

For his major-league career, the left-handed pitcher holds a 5.04 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, with 168 strikeouts across 139.1 innings of work.

He'll now try to win a spot in the Tigers' Opening Day bullpen with a strong showing this spring.
