Colorado Rockies Sign Manager To Contract Extension

Signing an extension.

Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black announced on Wednesday that he's agreed to a one-year extension with the team through 2024.

This will be Black's seventh season managing the Rockies.

The team won 87 and 91 games in his first two seasons, however, they've since had four straight losing seasons, finishing 68-94 last year. Obviously, it's not really his fault, as he's been given a poor team to work with over the past few seasons.

Black said that he met with owner Dick Monfort and general manager Bill Schmidt a few weeks ago and they agreed to the extension.

The 65-year-old holds a 417-453 record and led the Rockies to the playoffs in 2017-18 in his first two seasons with the team.

Expect a fifth straight losing season from the Rockies this year.
